HISTORY

SINCE 2015

FOR A SEASTAINABLE LEGACY

Since 2015, our objective has been to create a global consciousness in regard
to the issues of ocean plastic contamination and the unsustainable optical and fashion industry.
We have pioneered a seastainable change in the eyewear industry proving that marine plastic waste is a great source of raw material. We don’t produce glasses or watches, but a statement of change, which can be worn by anybody willing to stand for our Oceans.

Dear SEA2SEE friends,

Often, I get asked how it all started.

Let me reassure you! You don’t fall out of bed dreaming of making glasses with recycled marine plastic! A combination of factors has led me down this extraordinary path.

I am lucky to have spent many years of my life living and traveling in developing countries. I have witnessed again and again the consequences of plastic contamination.

My first job was in the maritime industry. In 2015, O’Neill had started to use recycled yarn in their surf shorts. I was following the great Boyan Slat and their Ocean Clean-up project. At that time, I was also starting to wear ophthalmic glasses.

I began to imagine a product with an environmental impact, something everyone could wear to raise awareness about ocean contamination. And then I realised that sustainability was almost none existent in the optical sector. A pair of glasses made from recycled marine plastic could play a part to help preserve the ocean.

Today at Sea2see we are proud to have pioneered the use of recycled marine polymer in the eyewear and watch industries, to have built an inclusive supply chain where waste has value in order to create a sustainable and scalable solution that reduces marine plastic and improve the lives of marginalized coastal communities.

For this incredible journey, I personally thank each and every one of you: you have been a part of this environmental action we strive for, making progress more possible and more powerful - one SEA2SEE ‘seastainable’ frame and watch at a time.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

We strongly believe that sustainable products design, use and assembly is our duty and one of the greater challenges of our time, that’s why we have decided to produce differently.
